Overview

The short version: Our calculators run entirely in your browser. We never collect, store or transmit any health data you enter. The only data-related activity on this site relates to standard web analytics and advertising cookies from third-party services — explained in full below.

This Privacy Policy describes how KnowYourBody.Online (“we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you visit our website at knowyourbody.online. We are committed to being transparent about what we do and do not collect.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Health data you enter into our calculators (height, weight, age, etc.)
  • Your name, email address, or any contact details (unless you choose to contact us)
  • Account credentials — we have no sign-up or login system
  • Payment information — all tools are completely free

All calculator computations happen locally in your browser using JavaScript. No data is sent to our servers at any point.

Information that may be collected automatically

Like most websites, basic technical information may be collected automatically when you visit, including:

  • Your IP address (used to determine approximate country/region)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • Referring website (where you came from)
  • Date and time of visit

This information is used only in aggregate form to understand how our site is used and to improve it. It is not used to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

We use cookies in the following limited ways:

  • Theme preference: We store your light/dark mode choice in your browser’s localStorage under the key kyb-theme. This stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
  • Analytics cookies: We may use a privacy-friendly analytics service to understand visitor numbers and popular pages. These cookies do not identify you personally.
  • Advertising cookies: We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google may place cookies on your device to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history. See the section below for more detail.

Google AdSense and advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites on the internet.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ad Settings.

For more information on how Google uses data when you use our site, please visit: How Google uses data from sites that use Google services.

Third-party links

Our site may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.

Children’s privacy

KnowYourBody.Online is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights (UK & EEA residents)

If you are based in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have certain rights regarding your personal data under UK GDPR and GDPR respectively, including:

  • The right to access any personal data we hold about you
  • The right to request correction or deletion of your data
  • The right to object to processing of your data
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time

Given that we collect very little personal data, most of these rights may not be applicable in practice. However, if you wish to exercise any of them, please contact us using the details below.

Data retention

We do not store health data entered into our calculators at any point, so there is nothing to retain or delete. Any aggregate analytics data (page views, visitor counts) is retained only as long as needed to understand site performance, typically no longer than 26 months.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
