This Privacy Policy describes how KnowYourBody.Online (“we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you visit our website at knowyourbody.online. We are committed to being transparent about what we do and do not collect.

All calculator computations happen locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere at any point — not to us, not to the analytics service described below, not to anyone.
Two things record that a page here was viewed. The first is the analytics service described in the next section. The second is the ordinary access log that a web server keeps for the requests it handles. Our hosting provider keeps one for every website it hosts, and the web server in front of our analytics service, in Manchester, United Kingdom, may keep one too. These logs can record technical details of each request:
These logs are a standard function of the web server rather than something we have added. We do not use them for analytics, to build profiles or to identify individual visitors. On our analytics server, the log is kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
We count visits with Plausible Community Edition, open-source software that we run ourselves on a server we rent. We chose it because it needs no cookies, builds no profile of any visitor, and sends nothing to an analytics company: the counts stay on our own server.
What it receives when you open a page: the page address, the address of the page that linked you here if there was one, your browser and operating system (from the identifier your browser sends with every request), and an approximate location, which is the country only, worked out from your IP address at the moment of the request. It also records roughly how long the page stayed in view and how far down it you scrolled. Your IP address is used only for that location lookup and to tell visits apart for the day; the analytics software does not store it. (The web server in front of it may record it in a routine access log, as described above.) To tell visits apart, the software combines your IP address and browser identifier with a secret that changes every 24 hours, keeps only the result, and cannot reverse it. Nothing links a visit today to a visit tomorrow.
What it receives when you use a calculator: a bare count that the calculator produced a result — the message is a fixed phrase such as BMI calculator completed, and that phrase is the entire message. It carries no figure, no category and no input of any kind: not your height, weight, age, sex, resting heart rate, drinks, bedtime, nor anything derived from them. Your numbers are used by the JavaScript running in your own browser to draw the result on screen, and they are never transmitted anywhere. This is a rule we hold ourselves to in the code, not a setting that might quietly change.
What it stores on your device: nothing. The analytics script sets no cookie and writes nothing to your browser’s storage. The only moment it touches that storage at all is to read the opt-out flag described below, and that flag exists only if you have set it yourself.
Where the data goes: to a server we rent from our hosting provider, in a data centre in Manchester, United Kingdom. It is not sent to Plausible Analytics (the company that writes the software), to any advertising network, or to any other third party.
How long it is kept: 12 months. Analytics data older than 12 months is deleted automatically, every day. Backup copies of the analytics data are kept for 14 days and then deleted, so data removed at the 12-month mark can remain in a backup for up to 14 more days.
Our lawful basis for this counting is legitimate interests — knowing which of our free tools are used tells us which are worth maintaining. We judge the impact on you to be slight, because the data is aggregate, carries no identifier we could tie back to you, and contains nothing you entered. You can object at any time by switching it off below, and nothing on the site changes if you do.
This site sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for anything else. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to agree to. Two things can be stored on your device, and both are yours to control:
localStorage under the key kyb-theme. This stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it.plausible_ignore, with the value true, to the same localStorage, and the analytics script checks for it before sending anything. It is not written unless you write it, it is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it — which also turns counting back on.If you would rather not be counted, press the button. It takes effect immediately and applies to this browser on this device.
Our analytics does not read the “Do Not Track” browser setting, so that setting alone does not stop counting; the button above does. If you block analytics scripts with a browser extension or a privacy-focused browser, nothing here attempts to work around that.
We do not currently serve advertisements. No advertising code — Google AdSense or any other — is loaded by any page on this site. Some pages reserve blank space in the layout where advertising could go; that space is empty and loads nothing.
Advertising is something we may introduce in future. If we do, it will mean third-party code running on these pages, and that code can place cookies and use your browsing history to choose which adverts you see. It will not happen quietly: this policy will be updated in the same release that introduces it, the provider will be named here, and any consent required under UK and EU law will be asked for before the advertising loads.
Our site may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
KnowYourBody.Online is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We do not store health data entered into our calculators at any point, so there is nothing to retain or delete. Analytics counts are held on our own analytics server for the period given in the Analytics section above. Access logs on our hosting provider’s servers sit under their own retention schedule. The access log on our analytics server, if it is kept at all, is held only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. If you email us, your message stays in our mailbox for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
